About

April 13th, 2008

I started my blog in the spring of 2002, intending for it to be an online diary. I think my first post says something to the effect of, “I probably will never remember to post to this thing.” I’ve always been the type of person to get very excited about a shiny new thing, but once some of the shininess wears off I tend to lose interest. Fortunately, I periodically did remember to post and the blog survived.

This blog is the story of a girl transitioning from the naiveté of her early twenties into a slightly more sophisticated - though still somewhat green - adult-type person. (Who is obviously so having problems with the adultness of it all since she can’t quite admit that she is really an adult even though she is married, a department manager, and very near to a very adult-ish age.)

The genesis of the title - Own It - is my mantra to myself when I have to do or have something potentially difficult or embarrassing (which happens more often than I’d like to admit given my propensity to say exactly what I’m thinking without thinking about it first…). I generally record the “Own It Moments” of my life on my blog along with other random items that currently capture my attention.

It’s not always brilliantly introspective prose (in fact, it’s frequently not), but my posts are generally randomly interesting (or interestingly random) and every once in a while I think I post a rather captivating nugget. In the end, my blog is really just for me - I very much enjoy the ability to click back to a random day or year and see what was going on in my life at that time. I don’t pretend that I have anything fascinating or profound to share with the world, but hey, neither does reality TV and lots of folks find that interesting. ;)

Thanks for reading! - Ali
